Screen-free Diversion of the Sarcastic Sort

Review: "The Little Book of Momfulness" by Sarah Ford

"The Little Book of Momfulness: A Non-expert Guide to Imperfect Momhood" by Sarah Ford

If you're looking to practice mindfulness, this pocket-size guide is not for you. If you want good mom advice, look elsewhere. It is, however, good for a few laughs and a reminder that even on your worst day you're not alone.

The book starts with five definitions of momfulness, the third of which resonated most with me (probably because it was the shortest): "The quality or state of ordered disorder that exists within the mind of every mother."

I aspire to ordered disorder. My disorder is mostly ... disordered.

The book includes exercises, advice, definitions and lists, all packaged in a cute little tome. It's an amusing diversion that doesn't involve a screen.

But watch out: This book is for the seasoned sarcastic mama. Just when you think the author might be onto something helpful, she turns it into a snark attack.
