Sing Into Summer With Pete the Cat

May 7, 2015
By Meredith Meholovitch - Contributing Writer , OVParent

Spring is finally here! I love to get out and look at nature emerging all around us.

The best sights for me are all the animals. I especially enjoy new baby chicks, calves and turkeys. I am fortunate enough to live in the country. My family gets to see many different types of animals.

I am particularly looking forward to visiting one of our neighbors. He has a farm, and my son loves to go visit the cows.

On that note, I found a few cute Pete the Cat books I thought I would share.

"Pete the Cat: Old MacDonald Had a Farm" by James Dean

In this story, Pete the Cat meets all the animals present on a farm. Children explore the sounds each animal makes and can sing along with Pete. The animals take turns riding in a farm truck or a tractor. The best part is all the baby animals.

"Pete the Cat: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" by James Dean

In this story, children also can sing along with Pete the Cat. Pete loves to look up at the stars. He even uses his own telescope. Pete dreams about flying a rocket ship up to a star.

"Pete the Cat: Big Easter Adventure" by James Dean

In this story, the Easter Bunny asks Pete the Cat for help. Pete has to find, paint and hide the eggs. He even has bunny ears to wear. The chickens give Pete eggs and suggest his costume is not complete. Pete decides to add a bunny nose and tail. Then, he paints and hides eggs for his friends to find. When the Easter Bunny returns, he gives Pete an award for his help.
