At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, The Linsly School in Wheeling will host New York Times best-selling author Dan Coyle for a discussion titled "What is the Secret of Talent."
Coyle is a journalist and author whose latest book is titled "The Talent Code: Greatness Isn't Born. It's Grown. Here's How." He will talk about his groundbreaking research in which he visited nine of the world's greatest talent hotbeds, from a small music camp in upstate New York to an elementary school in California to the baseball fields of Caribbean island nations.
"He found that there's a pattern common to all of them - certain methods of training, motivation and coaching. This pattern, which has to do with the fundamental mechanisms through which the brain acquires skill, gives us a new way to think about talent - as well as new tools with which we can unlock our own talents and those of our kids," according to the website, www.thetalentcode.com.

The presentation is free and open to the public.
"Like the Linsly philosophy, Dan's message suggests that we pursue excellence one individual at at a time, that we hold students to the highest possible standards in all aspects of school life - academics, athletics and character development - and that greatness is grown through hard work, persistence and disciplined practice," said Chad Barnett, Linsly headmaster.
