''You're No.1 ... cherish the moment,'' he said.
State Farm representative Eric Gates said he was impressed with the students' GPAs.
''You are all going to be future leaders,'' Gates said.
Gary Ray, commission executive director, told the youngsters their parents, teachers and coaches pushed them to do their best for a reason - because they care.
''After school, your parents will become your best friends. ... You have a lot of people who love you. Take the time to thank them,'' Ray said. ''You're special kids.''
The commission's assistant executive director, Ray Londeree, said the award winners are a ''positive reflection of the good things happening in our school systems.''
